Are You Ready to ‘Banish’ the Big Black Box Above Your Fireplace?

IMG_9230The television has been around since 1925 and we have seen MANY changes since then.  The television has changed from black and white to color.  We’ve seen it change from the console television to the LED models that we often see today.  There were many steps throughout this process, but one of the changes to the television as we know it is what I’d like to talk to you about today.  This change came about a year ago in 2017, but its really just starting to gain some traction in the home.  I’m talking about the Samsung Frame TV.  Samsung says, “It’s TV when it’s on, Art when it’s off!”  So let’s explore what that means…

When this television first came out, I wasn’t soScreen Shot 2018-12-17 at 5.56.51 PM sure about it.  It originally cost quite a bit more and most clients’ weren’t too excited about spending the additional funds.  However, I did have one client that was excited to try something new.  They REALLY didn’t want to see a big television over their fireplace, but that was really the only logical space to place the television.  So a Samsung Frame TV was ordered and I was about to witness the cool dual purpose of this television first hand.

Due to the design of the Frame TV, a special and very specific television mount is IMG_0961included with it that Samsung calls the ‘No Gap Wall Mount’.  This allows the Frame TV to rest flat up against the wall when mounted.  This yields a sleek very IMG_1745stylish profile from the side.  It even looks great on a stone or brick fireplaces!  Please keep in mind that your install may require a professional to set up.  It uses the ‘One Invisible Connection’ piece that is provided by Samsung but you may need an electrician to get an electric outlet IMG_6441behind the television.  If you are concerned about the best way to install, please feel free to request a consultation from TruMedia, as we can let you know what all might be involved in your installation.  The real beauty in this piece is making sure that you don’t have wires visible.  Brick and stone fireplaces also require special care during install and any time you are installing anything above a fireplace with heat, special care must also be taken to ensure the longevity of your electronics.

It seems Samsung has thought about everything for the design IMG_3974aesthetic of this television as they also offer a customizable bezel frame.  This frame is available in Walnut (or dark brown), Beige (or tan), Black and White if you prefer this look over the Black frame that comes with the television. It very easily just magnets on to the edge of the television making it a very quick process to change them out and to change the entire look of your display.   They also have a studio stand available for the very artistic freestanding look!  Or in my opinion, a “I don’t have any kids living in my home, therefore I can display freestanding art” look!

The Frame TV also has an energy saving mode that can actually sense your presence in the room.  What that means is that you are able to select your artwork and anytime you IMG_8174are in the room, it will display the artwork that you have chosen when the television is off.  However, when you leave the room, the television can see that there is no movement and it will go into an energy saving ‘sleep mode’.  Once it senses motion again, your artwork will reappear.  In addition to the energy savings, it also has a brightness sensor built in so that no matter the time of day or how much light you have coming into your room, you will always be viewing your artwork in the best light possible.  Since this is a digital print of your art, Samsung is able to change the brightness of the picture to assure that your art always looks its best!

Now onto the topic of artwork…Samsung’s Frame Television is already set up with a library of gorgeous artwork to enhance your living space IMG_6873in their Samsung Collection Gallery.  You can choose from landscapes to modern art and more.  If that isn’t enough to subdue your artistic cravings, you can also choose pieces from the Samsung ArtStore where art pieces have been curated from all over the world for you to choose from.  You can choose either a single selection from the store or you are able to choose a subscription that allows you to peruse over 400 pieces in Screen Shot 2018-12-17 at 6.30.39 PMtheir current collection.  This is a designer and art collector’s dream come true!  Change your art to reflect the seasons, or to reflect your mood, the options are limitless as you are able to change not only the artwork, but you can choose the mat style of your preference as well.

All of the artwork selections are wonderful, but for me the most impressive feature of this television and why I think it is such a game changer is that you are able to upload your own personal artwork to the display.  I love this feature!  I can’t tell you how many Screen Shot 2018-12-17 at 5.58.05 PMtimes my family has gone out and had family photos taken and we’ve gone through all of the steps of making sure everyone has coordinating outfits with the color theme chosen, as well as  selecting the perfect venue and I get the gorgeous photos back and all I can think is, “Wow, these are GREAT, but where am I going to put them?”  With Samsung’s Frame TV, we can now upload those pictures right to the television by setting up an account with Samsung, you can choose just one photo or you can have a slide show of your favorites.  The photos look just AMAZING and when you have it set up in your great room, you FINALLY have the ability to ‘banish the big black box eyesore’ that so many of us suffer from.  Think about the possibilities, you can change photos for the holidays.  Maybe display your wedding photos during your anniversary, or your vacation photos after your recent get away….what a way to keep your memories and your space fresh!

I think this is one of the BEST gifts that you can give to that ‘hard-to-shop-for’ individual iIMG_6444n your life because it can forever change and adjust to their personal preference.  Maybe you could gift a Frame TV and a photo session with a local photographer!

Although it is currently only available in 3 sizes (43″, 55″ and 65″), I have seen wives being more receptive to larger televisions in their great room spaces since it just means a larger family photo now when not in use.  This product is a Win-Win for everyone!  So what do you think?  Are you ready to ‘banish’ the big black box above your fireplace?
